Yesterday, after eating breakfast we decided to go for a drive to Cape Point. The weather was fantastic- sunny with a slight breeze. It was 10 o' clock when we finally set off, so we decided to go to lunch first. We had a lovely drive to Kalk Bay- past the 12 Apostles (the back of Table Mountain), around vineyards and got some great views of the Atlantic sea. When we arrived at Kalk Bay when we for a walk to the harbour.
We ate lunch at a somewhat strange restaurant called Cape to Cuba. It had a Cuban theme, with lots of interesting decor. The patio where we sat was also right next to the railway, and every now and again a train would rattle past. It was all part of the charm! Their food was delicious. We shared a tapas platter, which had:
Cuban bread with tomato salsa
The best calamari I've EVER tasted- it had a lime mayo sauce
Snoek roll
Sticky ribs
We also had a salad. Yum!
After we finished lunch we drove into the Cape Point Nature Reserve. We could see the sea on both sides and there was Fynbos all around us. We reached the Visitor Centre and chose to go on the funicular to the top, rather than walk. The funicular is a sort of train which takes you right up to the lighthouse.

We all wanted to do some walking so we decided to walk to the furthest point you can go.
The lower lighthouse (there are 2)
We were very glad dad had bought us a return ticket on the funicular because we were tired from all that walking! We went to a gorgeous beach in the reserve (called Buffels Bay). We played in the waves, built sandcastles and watched the ostriches on the sand dunes (Yes- really!) It was great fun.
When driving back we took a different route, which took us on Chapman's Peak Drive. It is a 9KM route, with 114 curves. It follows the rocky coastline and you get stunning views over the ocean. We were there at the perfect moment- we got to a viewing spot just as the sun was setting. Beautiful!
We came home to have dinner: Pasta with a tomato sauce, bacon, mushroom and onion. We also had a salad. Then we all went to sleep- the walking had tired us out!
